Sometimes talent isn’t presented right in front of our faces. At a concert, it is normal for the opener or closer to outshine the headliner. We have found that case in young DJ/Producer, Quintino. Quintino has been opening for Afrojack on the Jacked tour, in which we made a visit too in Amherst. More recently, he was the closing act at Pacha‘s anniversary party that featured Hardwell, Solveig, and R3Hab. When the huge New York crowd stayed through 6am to see Quintino spin, they were not disappointed. It was already the early morning hours but the frenetic DJ made it feel like he was just getting the party started.

We have not been sleeping on Quintino, in fact, he has always been on our radar as one of our favorite up-and-coming DJs. You have heard his original mix ‘Epic’ and his Afro-Collabo ‘Selecta’. Personally, I have been waiting for the release of a new single dubbed ‘The One and Only’ ever since Afrojack premiered the track at Electric Zoo.

We advise you to get familiar with Quintino as he will blow up big time in 2012. Grab his music and see him live; don’t be slacking! Want to know more about the man himself? Luckily for you we had a great interview with him in NYC this weekend.

How does it feel when you get the chance to come play in New York, and what do you enjoy doing in your free time while you’re here?

It is my second time here. My first time, I was with Afrojack, I played Provocateur. I was only here for 15 hours so I only saw the hotel, the club, and the airport. Today I arrived earlier and I met a really good friend of Afro’s that is showing me all the good spots in New York. It is a really lovely city I am so happy to be here again and I can’t wait to play Pacha.

Tonight you play a part of Pachas big anniversary night. Your set is 6-8am so its afterhours. How do you enjoy playing a late night dirty set?

It’s gonna be the best because the people that are still there are going to go totally nuts. I really can’t wait to play. First it is Hardwell, Solveig, R3Hab, and then I am up at 6. I am playing for all the die hards until 8am so we are going to rave all night long.

Your track ‘Epic’ is probably a perfect example of a late night kind of track. What have you thought about the huge reception from that?

That is really amazing. We made a track and sent it Tiesto. He played it a few times in a weekend. He got a lot of hype so Tiesto signed it and it got over a million views. Everyone has been talking about the track and I also have a bunch of new stuff coming up. I have a new release on Musical Freedom called ‘We Gonna Rock’, a new release on Wall called ‘The One & Only’, and new remixes for Lady Gaga, J.Lo, and Mick Jagger.

Speaking of ‘The One and Only’, we first head that when Afrojack dropped it at Electric Zoo and have been anxiously waiting ever since. What can you tell me about what track and when will you be able to release it?

I can say it out loud now; it will be released December 19th. Everyone has been waiting for the track. Hardwell did a mash-up with it to Calvin Harris’ ‘Flashback’. It turned out really great that the people have been digging that track so I am excited to release it.

What have been your favorite gigs of the year?

I never played at Ibiza before. Tiesto asked me to play the official closing at Privilege, which is the biggest club in the world. I played after Steve Aoki, and it was so massive, the people were so into it. Last month I played in Las Vegas and I played at XS. It was a total rave and people loved it. Those are 2 of my favorites, but tonight will be my first time at Pacha so hopefully I can put that on my list too.

You have been playing shows with and collaborating with Afrojack. What can you tell me about that?

I know Afrojack for a long time now backs from Holland. We were making music in the basement of my mother’s house. Now we are working together here. Whenever we play together whether I am before him or after him, we always play back-to-back. We are really good friends and we also like the music we play. We made ‘Selecta’ together and we are working on a follow up.

Looking forward to 2012, whom would you like to collaborate with most?

That is really hard to choose. I started out when I was 18 and Laidback Luke was a big inspiration. So I would love to do collaboration with Luke. He is a really good guy, good producer, and I think we can make something really different and a great track.

So what is coming next from you?

I am going to do a monthly gig in Las Vegas. I am doing a huge show in Holland in front of 350,000 people; it is insane. I am doing a lot of gigs in America now. I just want to say thank you to anyone who likes my music. They make my day. When I stand in front of the crowd and people go wild; I love it!
